EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY: Summer Workshop for Middle School Teachers

The AIM Math Teacher's Circle Immersion Workshop is a residential summer program for Bay Area middle school math teachers from July 23-27, 2012. All expenses are paid by the American Institute of Mathematics. This workshop is immersive — hands-on problem-solving sessions are held in both the morning and afternoon at the AIM headquarters in downtown Palo Alto; participants stay at the nearby Creekside Inn. Experienced session leaders engage participants with a provlem-solving approach to math education. Teachers gain experience and confidence with problem-solving techniques and work on open-ended math problems in several content areas. We ask all participants, even those living within commuting distance, to stay on site to foster camaraderie and community.

Please read this workshop brouchure for a more detailed description. The workshop is sponsored by AIM and the National Science Foundation and is completely free to accepted applicants.

Upcoming Meetings

Every month from September to April (except December), the AIM Math Teachers' Circle will offer an evening meeting for middle school math teachers interested in exploring accessible, exciting topics in mathematics and learning about a problem-solving approach to teaching math. All teachers are welcome to attend. Please contact us in advance so that we can have sufficient food on hand. Dinner is complimentary.

The meetings will typically be held at AIM on TUESDAY evenings from 5:00-8:00 pm.
